Urgent Care Accreditation

Medicus Urgent Care has been accredited by the Urgent Care Association of America for providing outstanding care. As of 2017, we are the only urgent care in Lackawanna County to earn this distinction. The process of accreditation involves a comprehensive review of the office policies and procedures to determine that we are doing things the right way. This includes:

  • a policy of non-discrimination in employment and treatment of patients, including offering interpreter services for patients who don’t speak English
  • a policy of protecting patient’s rights of privacy
  • a policy of treating all patients with dignity and respect
  • a policy of hiring only qualified physicians, PA’s, nurse practitioners and other care givers
  • a policy of addressing patient complaints and concerns
  • a policy of reviewing the charts of all the providers at Medicus

In addition, our charts were reviewed to determine that our providers practice the current standards of care, including:

  • appropriate use of x-ray, without over-ordering
  • appropriate prescription of antibiotics, to help prevent resistance
  • appropriate testing for strep and other illnesses, without over-ordering
  • appropriate prescription of narcotics, to help decrease potential for abuse
  • appropriate instructions are given regarding the patient’s diagnoses and follow-up
